Centre Line Brazilian Jiu Jitsu specialises in teaching Jiu Jitsu to students of all levels, from beginner to expert. We are committed to help you realise your fitness, sporting and self-defence goals.
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) is a physically demanding and technically challenging activity, but it is also hugely rewarding. You will of course sweat, burn lots of fat, tone your body and strengthen your muscles. More importantly however, the process will enrich your life, strengthen your spirit and build your confidence as well as your body.
Jiu Jitsu classes at Centre Line BJJ classes are generally informal, and although we insist on respectful behaviour, we also ensure our sessions are fun, satisfying and entertaining. Students get to know each other very well, and new members are warmly welcomed and are often surprised at how much camaraderie this effective martial art offers.
The training itself is far more interesting than just using a weights gym or running on a treadmill, you will actually learn some functional martial arts skills and connect with your body in a very unique way. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a highly effective system of self-defence, a key component of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) and also a competitive combat sport in its own right. BJJ is a reality-tested martial art, but it’s rewards are much greater than its effectiveness in a real situation, it is a powerful tool to help you develop physically and mentally, and we are here to help you discover your own personal expression of the art.
Miad and Howard each have over 25 years experience in martial arts, training with and learning from some of the very best practitioners in the world. We will pass on to you the knowledge we have gained to best prepare you for training in the gym, competing on the mats, fighting in the cage and if absolutely necessary, for self-defence.
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is famous for the slow progress through the grading system, it takes a long time to develop the skills to earn a black belt. It really is about the journey itself and not the destination, and therefore important to enjoy the process, rather than to obsess about the results, that will naturally follow. So do not worry about the grades, focus on your training, and things will fall into place.
